Bio
My name is Carl Buehler, and I bring a hands-on foundation to technical writing that most writers don’t have. I spent years as a maintenance technician at Argonne National Laboratory — earning a Pacesetter Award in 2017 — before moving into private-sector production and warehouse environments. There, I created process documentation for everything from machine startup procedures to operational workflows. That experience informs how I write. I know what it means to need clear, accurate instructions in the moment.
I’m detail-oriented and thorough, but also collaborative. I genuinely enjoy working with people to solve problems.
Outside of work, I stay busy with underwater videography (SCUBA is my escape), tending my vegetable garden, and keeping up with Coda — my one-year-old German Shepherd who has more energy than I know what to do with.
Mission Statement
Technical writing is most effective when it meets people where they are, regardless of their background, ability, or device. Good documentation doesn’t just transfer information; it removes barriers to understanding. My goal as a technical writer is to produce clear, accessible documentation rooted in real-world experience, whether that means a straightforward process guide for an everyday user or detailed procedural content for a technical audience. I believe in human-centered, universally designed documentation that is as useful to someone encountering a process for the first time as it is to a seasoned professional referencing it on the job.
